Secret of MI - gameplay or SCUMM issue?

I've played SoMI successfully almost to the end of the game, but now I am stuck and I want to know if I am making a mistake or if there is a problem with my game in SCUMMVM.

I'm using the DOS version of CoMI.

I'm at the part where you have to tickle the sleeping pirate to get his grog.

I've referenced 3 separate walkthrough guides who all say that you just have to use the ghost feather on him twice.

When I do this it says "I can't find a ticklish part on him". I am not able to interact with any special part of him. I am not able to pull his sheet back or select his toes, etc. So I am thinking that there was a small glitch in the game that is causing this not to work.

Can I please get some feedback and suggestions on wether I am doing something wrong or perhaps there is a glitch in the game?

I haven't played in a while, but I recall using the feather on his foot. Try a walkthrough if you can't find out what to do.

Yeah, move the mouse around slowly. I'm fairly certain the game makes a distinction between "ghost" and "ghost's foot." It's been a while since I've played through it, as well, but I highly doubt it's a ScummVM glitch.

from what i remember (i think) you need to try to take the grog first, then his foot pops out from the bottom of the bed when he turns over.

Might be wrong though...

yeah, i'm pretty sure you just need to stand near the end of the bed by his feet, and click on his feet with the feathers (even if "pirate foot" isn't a hotspot, i can't remember). and that should be the ticklish spot guybrush is looking for.
