broken sword 2 music sometimes noisy

Post by holbachist »

i chose the new video compression for broken sword 2, therefor using v0.10.0.

everything works fine, but sometimes the music gets very loud and horribly noisy.

i changed the music settings from default to "pc speakers" and "windows midi" and the frequency from default to 48khz and 44khz, but it still happens...

is my music.clu broken?

any ideas?

The music driver setting has no effect on digital music. It's for older games, that play synthesized music. Usually Adlib or MIDI. The output frequency setting could make a slight difference, but it shouldn't do much. The original sample rate for the music is, if memory serves me, 22050 Hz.

Could be. Have you tried re-copying it from your CD?

I do remember endian issues with Broken Sword audio from a long time ago - maybe that could be the culprit?

Which version of Broken Sword is it? Which OS are you ScummVM running on?

There hasn't been any changes to Broken Sword 2 lately. I don't really know what to look for. Does the music sound bad all the time just, like holbachist said, sometimes? If it's just sometimes, is it always the same music that sounds bad, or is it random?
