Sam & Max Speech Impediment

Post by HousePlant »

Hey everyone. I just loaded up the latest version of ScummVM along with a bunch of games and I'm having trouble getting speech to work in Sam & Max. The music plays but without any speech.
On a side note: speech works great in every other game I've tested, including DOtT, which apparently uses the same sound system as Sam & Max. Also, I've tested S&M on the PC version of ScummVM and speech did work.
I'd really appreciate any help, thanks!

PS I'm using a Siemen SX66

I don't know about the WinCE version of ScummVM, but the speech for Sam & Max should be in a file called monster.sou. As long as that file is present, I don't see why it wouldn't work if, as you say, Day of the Tentacle does.

Try recompressing (if indeed you have compressed) the sound according to SirDave's tutorial, stickied in this forum.

i had previously changed the name of the monster.sou file to smmonster.sou so that it didnt lash with the DOTT monster.sou file

when i changed the name back to monster.sou it worked fine
