2 problems with the E62

Post by migo »

I didn't have much luck with ScummVM, so I decided to revisit it. There's a new SVN since I tried before. I'm still having the problem that even though (according to Y-Browser) queen.1c is in the root directory of my Mini-SD card (E:\queen.1c), ScummVM won't find the game.

Edit: Rebooting the phone has fixed this part, but now I crash the moment I try to launch it. I've looked through the menu to see if Symbian was there (as it had DOS selected by defualt) incase that made a difference, but there wasn't such an option so I left it on DOS.

Edit 2: I've tested it with BASS as well. Same error.

The second problem is that the backlight automatically turns off. I initially thought it was a problem with the interface, but I accidentally hit the own key which temporarily activated the backlight in ScummVM and made it much clearer.

Out of curiosity, why do you put the game files in the root directory of your SD card and not a subfolder? ScummVM works fine with my N73

There are different queen versions, one with uncompressed audio, one with mp3 and one with ogg. Not sure which one works the best, I would go for the uncompressed version.

I put it in the root directory, because in another thread it was suggested that a subfolder wouldn't work.

I tried putting Lure in, as well as the floppy version of Amazon Queen - it hasn't detected either one so far. It detected BASS off the bat, took a couple tries to get it to detect the MP3 version of Queen. I'm not sure what's different, except that I included the CPT file for BASS.

With regards to the backlight being off, apparently the iNES developer says that it's a bug in the E62 that can't be worked around, however vNES has the backlight working fine.

Would I have better luck clearing all them out and perhaps trying the BASS floppy with the CPT file and nothing else in the directory, or should other files being there not make a difference?

Subfolders work if you don't overcomplicate them. It also resolves the potential issue of your clogging up your root by lots of various different directories which get in the way when you're trying to juggle data from various different programs that imperatively require you to have something in root (read: Open Transport Tycoon).

Don't forget to put each game into ITS OWN DIRECTORY or you will confuse the bajeezus out of ScummVM itself.

It seems only the root directory works for me. I deleted all the files except queen.1 (I figured the smallest one would avoid memory problems if there were any). I then moved it to E:\SCUMM\Queen\Queen.1 - scumm didn't detect it. I rebooted and tried again. scumm didn't detect it. I moved it back to E:\Queen.1 and scumm detected it immediately.

Even though it detected it, I still had scummVM shut down immediately as soon as I tried to start the game.

I then moved it to E:\SCUMM\Queen\Queen.1 - scumm didn't detect it.
Out of curiosity - we've had a similar problem in a nearby thread... Did you actually point ScummVM to scan the directory E:\SCUMM\Queen? Because that's the ONLY way it may not detect the file, your not pointing properly.
