Q: Free games from Al Lowe?

I recently noticed that allowe.com, the official website of Al Lowe, offers free downloads of some old adventure games. These includes The Black Cauldron, Donald Duck's Playground and Troll's Tale. Needless to say, most of these games are playable with ScummVM.
My question is to the legal state of these games. Can I really play those downloads with a clear conscience? Are these to be considered public domain?
