wich are the best versions?

Post by rolo2005 »

Hi, I'm starting my graphic adventure collection, and I would like to know wich versions that work with scummv are the best, for monkey island 1 I have the vga version, I think it's the one with best graphics and sound.
I need to know wich is the best version for maniac mansion and zak mckracken cause the one's that I have have ugly graphics and I saw screenshots of other versions with better graphics.
Thanks

These 'better' graphics may have been due to the scaler being used in ScummVM, have you tried changing the graphics scaler?

no, it didn't work, in the homepage of the scummvm portal, there are 4 small images at the top, and there's one of zak with vga graphics I guess.
Mine has worse graphics.
Wich version is that??

Is there any list of the games and it's versions?

The best version of Zak with regards to graphics is the FM-TOWNS version, for Maniac Mansion look for the 'enhanced' version.

As for the images at the top of the home page I believe they are (from left to right)

Simon the Sorcerer, Gobliiins, The doorman from Beneath a Steel Sky and I think the last one is Flight of the Amazon Queen. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong!

Hope this helps, Rolo.

I believe the images at the top of the homepage alternate, so this is only 4 of the images that appear.

The old guy on the right in the first two banners is Malcolm Corley, from Full Throttle.

The kid with the surf board in the second banner is from the cover of Maniac Mansion. The two-headed guy is the store owner in Simon the Sorcerer.

The kid on the left on the third banner is from the same Maniac Mansion cover, but the image on the right is indeed from Broken Sword 1.

From what I can recognize:
0: Monkey1, Zak, DOTT, SAM
1: ?, COMI, ?, FT
2: MM, Simon, ?, FT
3: MM, Goblins, ?, BS
4: Simon, ?, BASS, Queen
Some of them seem to be scanned from the cover or a poster.
And, yes, Zak is from an FM-Towns screenshot.
About MM I'm pretty sure they are Jeff and Syd (with a tiny bit of Dave).
