Which "version" of the game is interpreted by Scum

Post by Daywalker »

Hi,
first of all a big "HI" to everyone :D :D
I have a question:
How does ScummVM interpret a game? I mean, do I get a different display if I use a C64 version of "Zak McKracken" as to a Amiga "Zak McKracken"? Many of the adventures were ported to a lot of systems, and differed a lot in sound and graphics. How does ScummVM deal with different versions?

Thanks

AFAIK, since all the sprites/bgs/sounds are in formats compatible with those platforms, it is wise to assume that they will be interpreted as they exist - i.e. the coloration of sprites will be different between the PC and NES versions of Maniac Mansion because they were made for different platforms.
The basics, however, behind those files are the same (as they all use the same engine, remember?), so ScummVM can interpret them all. Or almost all of them, last I've heard, there still isn't 100% certainty with FM-TOWNS versions because they're hard to get.

So, in short...
I mean, do I get a different display if I use a C64 version of "Zak McKracken" as to a Amiga "Zak McKracken"?
Of course.
