Is there an easy way to cycle through the commands in S&

Is there an easy way to cycle through the commands in Sam&Max?
The only way I'm aware is holding a finger on the screen and clicking with the other ... but the cursor underneath my finger and thus not visible so I constantly miss the right action.
Any tips?

I just finished playing through it. I found that a combanation of your method, tapping the box, and slightly tilting the phone to get the keyboard up worked best. The key board is probably fastest for basic comands.
