yeap, a new unstable beta after a long time - still no automatic detection of games in folders (you have to edit manually an config file that is badly placed too - no easy portability for a multi-platform project... weird) ...at least now there is an elementary selection GUI

nobody else read the original zewb post? :)

That's about the best news I heard in ages.. This would make the scummvm engine even better and better as it opens up another big collection of adventure games..

Good luck..

I'm trying to check if the diff look sound, but it looks like the Darcs Web interface has crashed (I keep getting 502 errors).

The earliest logs mentionning ScummmVM I could see before the server stopped responding dated back to 2 month ago.
Gmail was released on April 1st, BTW, this coulsd be a reverse April's fool...

Isn't Tuesday 1st April, not tomorrow (which will be 31st March)?

Still, embedding the FreeSCI engine will be absolutely cool, and take ScummVM to the next level. Maybe, after support has got so far, they'll replace DosBox on their compilation CDs with ScummVM... :D

Depends on where in the world you are. For many people it's already Monday :P

Hi,

We're a small group of computer science students from Barcelona
(Spain) and lately we've been thinking about collaborating with an
open source adventure game engine.

Our main idea was to try to add SCI support into ScummVM. The obvious
easy way would be to integrate the FreeSCI code into ScummVM. We would
like to know what do you think about it, because we don't want to fork
from FreeSCI, but to join efforts into a larger project. We want to
establish collaboration between both projects and to do it with your
acceptance.

... snip ...
It looks definitely real... Jordi Vilata owns the Dacrs repository mentioned in the wiki. Great!

Guys, relax. It is not a hoax. From the other hand, it does not mean that FreeSCI and ScummVM will join tomorrow.

So, if you're a student, feel free to apply for this task and help Jordi to finish his project.

Actually, FreeSCI does have some basic game detection now. You can either use the -G command line option to point FreeSCI to your SCI game directory, or use the `menu_dir' config file option.
