Games that uses interpreters (possible scummvm games)

Post by Louise »

Hi,

I know that it have been asked countless times to add more games to scummvm http://scummvm.org/faq.php#id2503871

But I was thinking that it would be cool to have a list of games the uses interpreters, as possible scummvm games.

Perhaps someone woudl take on the challange when seeing one of these games?

I'll start :)
The Amiga and PC game Cadaver uses a scripting language called ACL.

The 3 playable demos can be downloaded from http://gods-country.de/cadaver/cadframes_eng.htm

The 2 others (retail) versions are called "Cadaver" and "Cadaver - The Payoff".

Eeeow, please no

Cadaver and the likes had a horrible user interface
(thats why i never playerd through level 1 and soon sold it again)

Plus it couldn't be played with a mouse, which kind of
is against ScummVM's focus on games ... i think

Anyway, there would be far better games to be implemented

Might fit well someplace else since that has little to do with ScummVM (REWiki maybe?)

I am not a programmer, but I don't think that any of the reverse engineered games here had their control system RE'ed.

So I think all games would be mouse controlled when implemented in the scummvm framework nomatter if they were joystick/mouse/keyboard to begin with.

The reason I posted the idea here for such a list was because it uses an interpretor.

I think it would be very interesting to have a list of such games, if it could motivate someone to bring back a game from the dead by injecting scumm :)

Even though I believe that was what killed Le Chuck :)

I really laughed when I read your post, and I sadly can't figure anything funny to say in return.

But was I meant was, wasn't it SCUMM that killed Le Chuck? I believe one of the ingredients was battery acid, so it would sort of make sense, if it was :)

hehe, I was a bit tipsy on wine there.

The first ghost zapper you get from the cannibals on MI is made from that root you have to get from LeChucks ship remember?
Then during the final battle you loose it and have to finish him off with a root beer from Stans Ship Emporium.
"Root" beer, get it?:)

(I guess you could call it acidic, just remember to brush your teeth)

SCUMM is short for Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion btw.

it is getting a bit OT, but I never saw the connection of the "root" beer before now :)

I think the drink that pirates drink is called SCUMM, but I am not 100% sure. There are 3 pirates in the first bar in MI, where they explain their drink, and I think he finishes with saying something like "or SCUMM for short"?

It is a bit off topic, but I think you mean GROG.
Maybe there's some SCUMM reference in there, I can't say for sure, but yes, the three pirate leaders mention battery acid as one of the main ingredients:)

You are right. It was GROG, and the bar was called SCUMM bar :)
