Full Throttle / Vollgas language problem

I recently bought Full Throttle and wanted to add it's game files to ScummVM. I managed to compress all data, it all went well. But then I realized the game sets itself to English. Actually that's not a big problem, but hence I bought the German version I wonder why it does so.. The booklet, CD, user guide, everything has German titles/text, Softgold is mentioned everywhere (German publisher I think) The console says something like "WARNING language file is forced to be ignored" which makes me even more think it is really the German version, but why is everything in English then? Can I somehow change the language?

You need to set the game's language to German by editing its entry in the ScummVM main screen

that removes the WARNING message, but the language is still English. That's disappointing ..
