Curse of Monkey Island + Mac OSX?

Post by stchambe »

I recently bought a mac and I'm running the latest version of OSX. I also have The Curse of Monkey Island (CMI) for the PC. Is there any way I can use ScummVM to run CMI on my mac? If so, how?

Use usual procedure. I.e. there is no difference as ScummVM is multiplatform. Just consult README which files to copy over, also see this page and then point ScummVM to directory where you copied the game data.

Hi there, I'm in a similar position - running scumm in OSX with copies of the Curse of Monkey island windows CDs

Works a treat - but my question is what happens when the second cd needs to be used, as the game is spread across two discs? will scumm ask me to select the folder for the second cd? or do i have to place all the relevant files from both cds into a single folder?

From the page you suggested - does it mean take those files and folders across both cds and bulk them into a single folder? And ignore any duplicate files?

Cheers, many thanks

Taken from the SCUMM read me
5.6.1) The Curse of Monkey Island:
------ ---------------------------
For this game, you'll need the comi.la0, comi.la1 and comi.la2 files. The
comi.la0 file can be found on either CD, but since they are identical it
doesn't matter which one of them you use.

In addition, you'll need a resource subdirectory with all of the files from the
resource subdirectories on both CDs. Some of the files appear on both CDs, but
again they're identical.
Like you say, put the relevant files from disc two into the main folder.

Alright I've been having quite the trouble trying to figure out how to run MI3 on my mac. Finaly I ended up in this thread.

I have a Mac too and have copied the files from the CDs to a folder on my desktop.
The comi files are in the main directory and the rest is in the subdirectory named "ressouces".

When I fire up ScummVM and try to add the comi.la0 files it says "ScummVM coulnd't open the specified directory"

What am I doing wrong?

You need to point to and click 'add' on the directory the game is in, not on a file inside the directory.

That's what I thought I did all this time BUT. Apparently when ScummVM opens the "add game" window you have to click the "open" button instead of just double clicking the folder.

I can't believe it was that simple....

But thanks for the answer dude :)
