It looks like the main character (old guy) disappears forever once he gets to enter the "Hot Sushi" bar.

That's near the beginning, after the first two short intros for the other characters.

Oops, sorry... But it would be nice to know if anybody else is experiencing the problem or if I'm just doing something wrong, before reporting it as a bug.

Sorry for answering so late, but I don't open port forums very often.

The behaviour you were experiencing was because of a regression bug which has been fixed some weeks ago. A daily build should fix your issues.

As md5 pointed out, this is not the right place for bug reports, because they might get ignored, like it happened for yours!
