I don't know how sensitive the accelerometer is on the iPhone, but for AGI games that can make use of up/down/left/right inputs, could you not get this information from the position of the iPhone?
Obviously you would want a moderate dead-zone to avoid accidental orientation detection.
Think of it like Super Monkey ball. Tilt the iPhone in a direction to correspond with the subsequent input.
And I guess double tap on the screen to 'pause' the game so that you can than start typing on a virtual keyboard to enter information into the AGI game.
I don't know what is allowed with hacked firmware, so hopefully this could be done as it was the only way that I could see controlling AGI games properly.
