Why the Spanish translations of kyrandia 1,2&3 don't work?

Is for legal stuff?

If this translations are converted in ips format will be legal?

I suppose that those are unofficial translations, so they'll have to be in a form of a patch that modifies the original game files, instead of providing directly modified files.

What "don't work"?
Details, does it start, does ScummVM find a game, can you add it?

then no, there shouldn't be any legal trouble.

If ALL of the datafiles can be downloaded (read: the whole game translated) then yes,
this is most likely to be called pirating then ...
If this translations are converted in ips format will be legal?
See above: Patch is fine, datafiles is not
btw, whats an ipf format? (ScummVM may likely not know of such a format)

IPS is the International Patching System format. Some of the companies like Westwood actually used to use it for updates, basically it checks the files version, and if they match the checksum it has for the previous version applies a diff update to the files. It's still semi common for console rom patching for fan translations and "hacks" such as modified tilesets for console games like Chrono Trigger as an example.

It's a pretty old format now, I remember IPS files as long ago as 95 IIRC. The fact it's still used is amazing considering that there are a lot of issues with it as the max file size it can be applied to is approximately 16 megs.

ok, in the new svn builds the kyrandia3 spanish path runs ok, but in kyra1&2 scummvm can't find the games.

Yes, it's still breach of copyright according to several court cases. Including the fact the download of the translation can come under being a derivative work.
