Does anyone know of a mac equivalent to the 'CDex' programme that's suggested in the FAQ to convert CD Audio files to the required WAV IMA-ADPCM 4-bit Mono? The .exe file needed to run CDex won't work on a standard Mac (and I'm not about to start running Windows etc on my Mac before anyone suggests it )
Hope someone can help!!
CDex equivalent for Mac?

I'm not really sure about Macs, but a quick Google search suggests Switch might be able to do it:

Although it can't rip CDs. But you can probably just use iTunes for that, and then convert the mp3s to ADPCM with Switch. Let me know if it works, or you find something better, and I'll put a link on the website.

Thanks for that - I just tried it though and whilst the Windows version of Switch will convert to ADPCM, the mac version will only convert to PCM for some reason
Don't suppose anyone's got any other suggestions?
Maybe the Audacity sound editor can convert between stuff? http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Aha! That looks like it might just do it! Thankyou - It certainly lets you export as a 4 bit IMA ADPCM Wav, but doesn't allow you any more options than that... I'll have to give it a go when I get my hardware through... Unless someone fancies giving it a stab in the meantime?clem wrote:Maybe the Audacity sound editor can convert between stuff? http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Hmm, the programme 'soundconverter' (http://www.versiontracker.com/php/dlpag ... 080701.zip) for Mac seems to be able to do all the options that you need with the exception of the 'on the fly encoding' one that's described on the ScummVM DS page - anyone know how important it is to be able to do this?

Answer
I just wanted to let people know. I tried this and it worked.
I originally converted my cd audio for loom to wav without considering the bitrate codec or anything.
I got Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ and converted the wav file with the 4-bit IMA ADPCM codec, and it worked on my ds without crashing.
This, of course, is all using a mac.[/url]
