Planet ScummVM is no more updated

Post by oduverne »

Hello,

The site http://scummvm.distant-earth.com/planet/ is no more updated. It was useful.
Could you fix it?

Thanks

It seems to be up-to-date to me. However, you really should use http://planet.scummvm.org/ instead.

That address actually shows the same data :). But note that the planet is only updated in certain intervals by an automated script. Maybe when you looked the first time, that script had not yet run, causing it to appear outdated. Just a guess, though.

The http://planet.scummvm.org/ is the official planet site. That site is self contained with hosting and updates on the same server.

The http://scummvm.distant-earth.com/planet/ is one on my own server that I update from a CRON job locally (I keep it there to check new BLOG's I add don't break things, general testing, and so I can play with the design so new BLOG's will get added there 1st then I move over the config a day or so later).

Under normal situations they are both updated however my server at home became orphaned from the internet a little while ago so that copy fell out of sync.

Thanks for the reminder for me to fix it (but use the official Planet anyway ;)).

Not very often, apparently. The first link shows news from October 10 when I try it. The second shows news from December 2. :-)

Any plans for making Planet ScummVM more official? I mean adding a link to the official site and such :)

Sounds like a good idea.

I held off doing this as I had a few offers to sort the design out (its not nice in IE6 and works best in FireFox) but as is often the case those offers did not come to anything and, well, my design skills are chronic ;).

If we can get the design sorted and make sure we have valid HTML/CSS then I think putting it into the main site menus would not be an issue. As it stands, it really deserves the beta tag.

Add a beta tag then (just a big red BETA in the title or so), and link it. If you need help with that, ask on IRC or on the list, and say that I authorized it (sev may veto, of course :).
