permanently stuck in Monkey Island?

Post by Three-headed Monkey »

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge, but I've given Otis and the Grog distributor all my 478 pieces of eight before buying the sword and the shovel, and I guess it's well, game over?

Didn't know MI1 had a permanent stuck death.

Apparently you're right - I looked on the web and found http://www.miwiki.net/Grog_Machine where it's also mentioned under "Trivia"

It's funny because I kept doing so with the self-confidence of ones who's firmly convinced MI was without stuck points. I even thought I already did that in my youth, and I was ready to bet another "helmet" would have spawn in the kitchen and Fettuccini bro would ask you another cannon test.

Oh well, you learn something every day! :)

There's even one place where you can get yourself killed... but of course, everyone already knows about that, right? :)

yeah the ten minutes drown and the fake sierra death - those are legendary.

Actually - do the scumm commands change in the PC-CDrom version too?

They do:

Though not in the exact same way as the floppy version:

I guess "Decompose" was too long a word for the CD version's interface. :)

Exactly why would you be stuck if you gave away the pieces of eight? I only recall having to use them with the Shopkeeper..?

If you need to use them there is a ScummVM debugger command that will give you some. I uhh... forgot what it is though...

Sadly, there was no publicly available debugger before ScummVM:P

No idea, what does that do when you run the game in its original form without ScummVM?
