Differences between Full Throttle Version A and B ?

Post by Simplex »

Hello,

I noticed there are two versions of Full Throttle in SCUMMVM: Version A/English and Version B/English. Is there any difference between them, or is "B" the same version, only compressed?

It's two different releases of the game. I don't know if there are any differences noticeable to the player.

Full Throttle(tm) Update ReadMe
Version 2.0
10/29/2002
This version of Full Throttle has been modified to
allow you to play the game in Windows 95 OSR2, 98,
98SE, Millennium Edition (ME), 2000, or XP.

NOTE: The original Troubleshooting Guide on this CD
has not been modified to reflect the additional
supported operating systems.

No, that is just an executable replacement.

The difference between these versions is that one has a script variable added (and all other shifted, since they're numbered sequentally). What is the real purpose for that we don't know as nobody cared to analyse it.

No, I have Version B, which is for DOS. That's the Windows executable for when they repackaged it for Windows.

Come on! I started my ScummVM hacking with working on FT. The time difference between these versions is 12 days with version 'A' being newer.

My version is B, and it's the original release that was released here in Sweden back in 1995.

I would guess that version A was a very short-lived version? The initial US release perhaps?

I'm fairly sure that's the more common one.

Again, version 'A' is newer version, that is, they're named in a wrong order in ScummVM. First was released what we call 'version b' and then 'version a'. As I saw, both versions are quite widespread.
