I want to ask about TBS "X-COM: Enemy Unknown" and "X-COM: Terror From the Deep" - can they be ported... in some future? It's amazing games, hope all of you know them

X-COM series
Moderator: ScummVM Team
Re: X-COM series
They are not 2D point'n'click adventure games, which is what ScummVM mainly focuses on, so its not likely to happen, I'm afraidmm44 wrote:I want to ask about TBS "X-COM: Enemy Unknown" and "X-COM: Terror From the Deep" - can they be ported... in some future? point'n'click - yes
adventure - no, it's tactical game. but absolutely action/turn based
I see no big differences in playing between X-COM and Gobliins by example...
Re: X-COM series
Of course there is a huge difference. Gobliins is an adventure/puzzle game. X-Com is a tactical strategy turn based game. Thus, it is out of scope of ScummVM, which focuses mainly on ADVENTURE games (with a few exceptions, which are games that are based on adventure game engines, like the Elvira series). So the answer is again, no. You may want to have a look at UFO2000: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/mm44 wrote:2d - yesmd5 wrote:They are not 2D point'n'click adventure games, which is what ScummVM mainly focuses on, so its not likely to happen, I'm afraid

Edit: Also, this question has been asked in the past, do a search in the forums
Since February or so. There was a story on OSNews on how it allows you to run Win 3.1 on a Symbian phone. See http://s60dosbox.sourceforge.net/
I would absolutely love to see a portable reverse-engineered engine for the first two X-COM games some day. Not likely it will happen, and I have no clue whatsoever how to do it, but it would be extremly nice
Although there are these threads; X-COM 1, X-COM 2 and even Albion. But I don't have a GP2X.

Well, it won't happen as part of this project.
Note that there is an open source remake of X-Com 1: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/

Yeah, I know. I meant as a standalone project, like OpenTTDfingolfin wrote:Well, it won't happen as part of this project.
OpenXCOM?
Yeah, but it doesn't have any single player part. It just focus on the human vs human multiplayer.fingolfin wrote:Note that there is an open source remake of X-Com 1: http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net/
