The Secret of Monkey Island - Nokia N95 8GB - Lag

Post by Al99 »

Hi everybody :)

I finally got my own ScummVM and Monkey Island 1.
I have got a couple of versions of it on my Nokia.

1. I tried the CD version and noticed that it works great at the beginning but in the Scumm Bar it gets laggy after a while.
Music begins to jump too... :(
Should I change something in the Options?
I am using the 0.13 ScummVm version.

2. Also, which version of Monkey Island 1 is the best and why ?

I would be very grateful for an answer...

Cheers

where you found it? on download page latest version for palm is still 0.11.1 :-(

but in general, it seems your device is not fast enough for what you are trying. on my tungsten t5 this happens when i try to play in landscape mode which is much slower on palms. inportrait mode screen sice is smaller ut lags and music skips don't happen. so i think it may be yiour case too

also for Nokia its probably good idea to use native symbian version and not use palm emulation....

This belongs in the Symbian port section. CD audio might make it laggy, you should use really low bitrates when ripping the audio from the original CD (like max 64 kbps mp3 or ogg).

Thank You for the info,
and excuse me for the confusion.

I think I put the Thread into the wrong section...

Ps. I have the audio that is already ripped from the CD.
Would the effect be the same if I tried to convert audio files to the same .Ogg format but this time with reduced bitrates ?

Could n't you just re-rip the audio from the original CD? Pirated software is not supported in the forums!

I managed to reduce the bitrate to 64kbs, the game, however still tends to get laggy after a while in the Scumm Bar...

Should I change anything else in the settings?
