New scummvm 0.13 quits immediately

Post by vtf »

Hi,

I installed single-eboot from scummvm 0.13 on a PSP S&L, firmware 5.0 M33-4.

When I run it from the xmb, it loads (ms led is blinking) with a black screen, but it eventually returns to the xmb without displaying anything.

v0.12 works fine though.

Does it 0.13 work for you?

If you haven't done it already, try deleting your old scummvm files before copying over the new ones - especially the scummvm.ini file which is probably in the root folder.

Nope. (I even installed 0.13 before trying 0.12 anyway :D)

So even after cleaning up all the scummvm files and re-copying 0.13 I still have the problem.

The only thing I can think of is that when I updated to 5.00 myself, I had to swap to using the 1.0 single eboot instead of the 1.5 version for some reason. You could try the other version but if that doesn't help you then I'm out of ideas.

When I'm using a 1.50 game (scummvm or any other - I mean those with 2 directories, one of which ends with "%"), I just get error 800201148.

:/

Edit: not sure what you mean by "1.0" version, actually. Can you precise?

You are using the right version so I'm out of ideas. I'm currently using 5.0-6 with no problems and I had the 13.0 svn version running before that on 5.0-4. Other than having to clear out the old files, I never had any trouble with it.

Either try the single eboot version and place it under GAME (make sure you set it to use the 5.xx kernel in the recovery menu beforehand).

Alternatively, you could try using the "1.5" version, placed in GAME150 (for which you need to install Dark_Alex's LEDA 0.2 if you have a SLIM PSP).

Everything should be fine if you're under one of these scenarios.

I have no other idea what might have gone wrong otherwise, sorry.[/b]

5.xx kernel + GAME + single e-boot is my configuration. I confirm that it fails. Also, I could try it on a Fat (before exchanging it due to broken wifi), and I had the same issue.
What kind of other parameters could we vary? Language?

I'm clueless.

Redownload whole pack?

edit:

Wait, do you have a random UMD present in your tray?

If not, did you set a "NO UMD" mode?

Hi,

I don't have a UMD in the tray.
I checked my configuration: I'm in Normal/UMD-required mode. I tried with M33/No-UMD but this doesn't help.

I'll try a redownload just in case - but .zip have CRCs aren't they? ;)

If you don't have any UMD in tray you absolutely need to use a NO-UMD mode for any homebrew (it's not only for backup isos).

Redownload SCUMMVM please, direct link just in case:

CLICK ME

Use the single eboot version (without any "%" in it's name).
Throw it in PSP\GAME (set to kernel 5.x in Recovery).

If that doesn't work, I am clueless.

Well, I never use a UMD for homebrews, including ScummVM 0.12, hex-a-hop, and my owns :)

I tried the 3 "no-umd" modes, with a new redownload (which afaics is bit-for-bit identical to the previous download).

scummvm has the time to create an empty scummvm.ini at the root of the ms though.

The motherboard is a TA-088.

I really don't know what the hell is going on then.
Last resorts:

1) Try Pix's PSP SVN build (0.14) (here)

If that doesn't work -

2) Try reflashing the custom firmwware using HellCat's Recovery Flasher. Required update PBP's can be found here.
You can go straight to 5.00 using this program.

I'm really at loss here, but still trying to help you.
Tell me how it went.

Pix' 0.13pre and 0.14svn works!
(though the menu is very different?)
