Looking for tools to write my first adventure

Post by oddsea »

I've got this great idea for an adventure game. I'm looking for a SCUMM compiler and API documentation on it so that I can begin coding. At least...I'm pretty sure those are what I'll be using...

Can anyone give me some pointers for how to go about writing my first game?

I already understand several programming languages, so hopefully learning the language will not pose any problems, just getting hold of the tools I need.

Also, can someone point me to a completed script ready to be compiled? Examples are always helpful when you learn a new language.

Thanks! :D

Thanks for the link. I had already downloaded it from another location and was quite puzzled at first, but it looks like this website includes a sample minigame. That will be very helpful, and I think I can take the rest from here.

Now I just need to develop the plot, team, and graphics, and then I can start coding.

There is also ScummC. It's probably less user friendly than AGS, but the game generated should run on any port of ScummVM.
