question about low res

Post by DVM »

Hi,
first of all, thanks for this port!

I have a pal Wii with an rgb cable plugged to a crt tv.
This is my question:
there is a method to select the original low res [obviously for games designed for it] in order to have a non-interlaced signal? [maybe with true scanlines]
I would be the best for my tv

sorry for my bad english

Thank you again :)

By RGB cable do you mean SCART or VGA?

About scanlines. I know with console emus they can add to the experience for some people but remember the games that ScummVM supports are mostly PC with a few exceptions like the NES Maniac Mansion, PCengine Loom and if I recall I think Amiga used TVs at some point.

think with a crt tv it's safe to assume he(?) means scart.

yep, a high proportion of amigas were used with televisions 8)

Edit: Never mind, I was thinking of the standard SDL version.

RGB SCART
I'm from europe :)

I don't refer neither amiga or console ports
more precisely I meant to force the pc versions from a pixel doubled res
to a true 320*200 res, and Wii can output low res.

this will generate natural scanlines and, mouch important, a progressive image.

Yep, scanline are bit odd on a pc game
but all the old pc games are an odd thing back in the days [pixel doubled res to fit the 31Hz vga monitors]
In the end I'd like to see these games in the right form as we never had them

hope I have explained it well

I know it's quite rare hippy dave but my CRT is 100/120 Hz.
It has a VGA port, highest res. 640x480. So I have one of those 3rd party VGA cables (VDigi)
I also have a Xbox360 hooked up via a switch. I know 2 friends both with LCDs and 360s and prefer the picture I get insted of their 720p on LCDs.
I will add both LCDs are fairly cheap models.
It's one of the last TVs made by Grundig before they went bust.

Sorry DVM. You've educated me a bit. I didn't know about all that.
All I can say is what you see is what you get. I know on PC versions of ScummVM you can start from a command line and add stuff but for you're question I think you would have to ask the person who worked on reversing the engine, or modified the source code they was given, of each game in question.
Did you have a particular game in mind?
