Is it the CD version? If yes, did you actually rip the audio tracks from the game's CD?

Yes, you said that. But the game was released in three different versions for DOS alone, and I don't know how many other versions for other operating systems. The two 256-colour DOS versions (one where the inventory is shown as text, and one where it's shown as pictures) are probably the most common ones.

Is it the CD version, or the floppy version? You should know the answer to this question, since you should have a legal copy of the game, right?

The CD version stores the music as audio tracks - the kind you can play on any audio CD player - on the CD. At least with the desktop version of ScummVM, you should be able to rip them to file (MP3, Ogg Vorbis or FLAC). This is described briefly in the README file, and in several discussion threads. The important bit is to name the files correctly. (Some programs consider the first audio track to be track number 2, the data track being track number 1, but ScummVM considers it to be track number 1.)
