hi... thanks for your reply..

yes i have all the files required.. and i've also figured it out.

I'm not sure if its the right thing but when i took out the contents of the resource folder into one folder(renamed monkey island folder), instead of having 2 folders it worked.

haha..

thanks anyway.

I have this same problem and it's doing my head in. Disk 1 of Curse of monkey island works absolutey fine Disk 2 comes up with the message "Cannot find file comi.la1 please insert disk 1"

I'm not the most computer literate person so it's taken me about 2 hours to get to the stage where I have the merged Resource folder with 25 items in it and the COMI.LA0, COMI.LA1 and COMI.LA2 files in a folder together on my computer.

However when I attempt the second half of the game by adding this folder with the add game button it comes up with the message "ScummVM could not find any game in the specified directory"

If ANYONE could help me i'd pretty much love them forever.

I wrote this post some time ago, in a different thread, trying to explain how the files could be arranged. Does that help?

I totally figured it out! I don't think I was putting the files onto my harddrive properly. Now they are set up like this:
- Monkey Island 3
--> Resources (25 items)
--> COMI.LA0
--> COMI.LA1
--> COMI.LA2

and it works like I charm!

Thanks for your help.

Computers are haaaaaaaaaaaard

I need some help on how to run Moneky Island 3 on my pc, too. I'm not very able with this kind of stuff, so please be patient with me :). Iread all the thread about this problem, but i can't figure it out alone. :(
I installed Scumm VM and MI3 on my pc, then I copied from the 2 cd in a folder named "Monkey": the 3 file COMI.la and the resource folder.
When I run ScummVM i go to the folder C:\Programs\LucasArts\Curse but i can't find anything.

What is wrong in what I did?

Than you very much

You do not need to install MI3!
All you need to do is copy the right files from the CD's to a directory and then point ScummVM to that directory.

---

The files you need are listed here;
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Dataf ... and.2C_The

---

1. Basically you just make a directory (folder) on your computer called MI3.
2. Then you look on the CD's and find the files you need.
3. Then you copy the files you need to the MI3 directory on your computer.
4. Then you start ScummVM, take the 'add game' option and point to the MI3 directory and then click the 'choose' button.
5. Then you just start the game in ScummVM.

---

The files you need are
a. Everything in the RESOURCE folder
b. COMI.LA0
c. COMI.LA1
d. COMI.LA2
You can find all of those files ON THE CD's!!!!!!!

----

You will find that some files have the same name on CD1 and CD2. That is no problem, you can just overwrite one with the other as they are the same file.

So, your MI3 directory on your computer should contain a RESOURCE directory that has all the files in it from both the RESOURCE directory of CD1 and all the files from the RESOURCE directory of CD2.
Also it should contain COMI.LA0, COMI.LA1 and COMI.LA2.

---

If this wasn't clear enough, please somebody shoot me.

I'm sorry to add to this thread again but I'm having the same problem as deiphobos. I have the same files as him (the bin and cue files) but cannot get scummvm to recognise the game. What am I doing wrong?

Please help a monkey island fan in need!!!!

I did buy the game originally but I've lost the CD.

What's all this about forum rule 0?

The rule 0 is : no warez. No support to warez. No discussion concerning warez.
So if you lost your CD, well that's unlucky, but you'll have to buy another one if you want someone to answer your questions.

For the rules, you should look at this :

Ah yes...
- Pulled the game from the Pirate Bay
- Can't be bothered to read the forum rules while they have been mentioned right in this thread in relation to this exact problem.
- Can't be bothered to google what bin/cue is for yourself.

I'm afraid you are fair game to be made fun of....

What did you expect? If you're looking for a pirate game, give Pirate Bay a try. :lol:
(Disclaimer: I do not encourage piracy, I'm merely pointing out the irony).
