The 7th Guest ( HELP )

Post by hserio »

Somebody help me! I don't know what to do. I have the 7th guest game, but I don't know how to install it in windows XP. This is the 1st step, right? After the install process, i think i just have to add the directory where the game was installed to start playing. If i have any more problems, i call for help again. But for now, if somebody just tell me how to install the game, i'll be more than thankfull.

You don't have to install the 7th guest. Just copy the right files to your PC.

1.Look here for all the files you need;
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Dataf ... est.2C_The

2. Make a directory on your harddrive (call it "7thguest" or whatever you want)

3. Copy all the files you need from the CD to the 7thguest directory you just made. If you are unsure, just copy everything.

4. Start ScummVM, take the "add game" option, point to the 7thguest dir and then hit "choose".

5. Now you can play the game with ScummVM.

6. Additionally you can copy the cd-audio from the CD as well. That music plays during the intro and credits of the game. This step is optional as having this music won't influence the gameplay itself.
Rip the CD-audio track with your favorite riping software and name the result track1.mp3.
Place track1.mp3 in your 7thguest directory. You will have music during the game intro now.

Also in the future you could have a look at the documentation (especially the readme) before asking the basic stuff :)

Hmmm,

I am also having trouble with this one. I have copied everything from the CDs to my harddrive. When I 'Add Game' and hit 'choose' I get the error "SCUMMVM could not find any game in the specified directory".

There are a few directories, so I tried them all with no luck

then those 'few directories' are probably your problem.
Strip the directory structure a.k.a. throw all files in one big dir.

Which version of ScummVM are you using? It's probably a silly question, but I like to rule out (or, sometimes, confirm) the simple explanation first. (The 7th Guest should be supported in ScummVM 0.13.0 and later.)

Copy the needed files from Disc 1 and Disc 2 to a single folder? Hence the one big dir.
