Except I get a god-awful screeching when the Sierra logo plays at the start of LSL7 and a crash when trying with DOSBox. However, I can play it just fine using an ancient Compaq I've kept for old games (but I prefer not to use it because I really hate the damned thing and, anyway, every boot just takes it one step closer to the grave).

Did you try different sound drivers or DOSBox settings?

Yes, but again it's not that big a deal since I've got that old PC, so there's only so much fiddling with DOSBox I'm willing to do.

If you have Thunderboard selected for sound card it will behave the way you describe. Be sure that you have Sound Blaster selected in the Sierra install program.
