Scummvm Help File

Post by Will Phoenix »

Hello, I have only 1 minute to say I have created a chm version of the read me file for scummvm, for convenient use.
English is my second language so I just copied the original sections of the readme in the chm file.
Would you like to see it? How can I upload it?

Bye,
Will
Sorry very short message

Actually I agree it wouldn't be more convenient for the developers since chm cannot be directly edited, but the users would use a better navigation system.
More easy to find the keys config, supported games, etc.
Sorry I don't know how to upload on this website.
How should I do?

Just upload the file to a service like rapidhare or zshare.net and post the link here.

Does it work?

Ok here it is!

http://rapidshare.com/files/235563236/S ... E.chm.html

I've done it with the freeware "helpndoc" in a few hours (I'm a beginner).
It's an early version and I was thinking about something else.
What if I create some kind of encyclopedia (mini) with infos about all the games which run on scummvm, walkthroughs, pictures, etc.
Maybe I should merge it with the readme or create a new file.
Anyway such an encyclopedia would be a huge work.
But I already have enough games to start such a project.

That's sort of what the ScummVM wiki is:
http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/Main_Page
(Minus the walkthroughs)

Yeah I know but I was thinking about an offline version of it, in only one file.
That's what I was thinking when I said "convenient".

So far it seems that nobody is interested in this.
Weird. A french website has created a chm file of Thousands of reviews of video games on all supports of all time.
http://www.emunova.net/veda/
(only in french)
it's a huge success, so I don't understand why it wouldn't be interesting to do the same, everything related to scummvm only.

I would be interested but I use Linux so you would need to use a format like pdf that is multi-platform like ScummVM itself.

Oops sorry I forgot about the compatibility problem.
But the pdf files are slower than most of the files, even though recently I have installed the freeware foxit reader, which is incredibly faster than acrobat.

Anyway all of this is just an idea, but maybe I'll try to do something later.

Now I'd like to hear what the creators of scummvm think about this chm version of their readme file?
And if they like it, would they like it to be improved?
