Is Castle of Dr Brain meant to work in the current SVN build

Post by Graxer »

I have been using all the SVN builds as they came out and have watched the support for SCI progressing.

So far I have seen support for:

SCI0 with Space Quest III

SCI1 with Space Quest IV and Eco Quest 1

SCI1.1 with Eco Quest II, The Island of Dr Brain and Space Quest V

and:

SCI2 with detection of King's Quest VII, Space Quest 6 and Torin's Passage

Despite this it still doesn't recognise my copy of Castle of Dr Brain, which is SCI1. All it says when I scan the folder is "Sierra SCI Game (DOS)" and won't run.

Is it something wrong with my floppies or is it not suppored yet?

Actually no SCI game is supported officially yet. It is all in development and we don't claim that any SCI game is working.

You could after all supply the proper detection entries for your version. Usually there should be some output on the console/terminal when running ScummVM. We have some FAQ entry for Windows and Mac OS X, which explains on how you can check out the output. You can find it over here: http://scummvm.sourceforge.net/faq/#5_6

KQ7, SQ6, and Torin's Passage. They're SCI32. There is no SCI2.

I think you can say either. Then again im going by what Wikipedia says so I may be wrong.
SCI2

Often called SCI32 (along with SCI3), SCI2 (2.xxx.xxx) runs in 32-bit mode by using the DOS4G extender or by running it in Windows 3.1's Enhanced Mode. Most notable is the support of high-resolution 640x480 graphics, as well as better movie support. There are two known revisions, 2.000.000, and 2.100.002.
