All,
I would like to volunteer for the manual. ScummVM is a great project, and it needs a book to enter the wonderful world of "ancient" games.
There are some things I can offer to the community. However, there are also some I cannot.
What I can offer:
(1) I am an excellent writer.
(2) My company offers great layout using open source tools.
(3) I am keen on writing this manual.
What I cannot do:
(1) Graphics. In Germany we say I have got 2 left hands. I have, however, excellent staff in Leipzig who can do that.
(2) Discipline. I need somebody to kick my ass. Read the next paragraph and anwwer, if you want (to ralf.hoeppel@invitement.com).
Does anybody feel like forming a documentation team for ScummVM? I would like to be part of this team.
Regards .. and hope anyone answers.
Ralf

Specifically, http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/TODO# ... .2F_Manual. It suggests contacting Fingolfin (who will probably be happy to finally find someone volunteering for this) or the scummvm-devel mailing list if you want to help out with the manual.Collector wrote:http://wiki.scummvm.org/
I am not sure what the status of the docbook manual in SVN is, but I would guess it is obsolete considering it has not been modified in the past 18 months. My understanding is that the effort to write a user manual has been moved to the wiki, in which case the TODO should probably be updated.
There is a in progress manual in the wiki (http://wiki.scummvm.org/index.php/User_Manual) although there were not a lot of updates recently But that would help to have more people working on it. If you are motivated to do so, you can indeed contact Fingolfin (or Sev) or send a mail to the scummvm-devel mailing list.

Re: The Manual
This is a really good thing! In fact, lack of user manual is the thing which prevents us from announcing ScummVM 1.0.ralfrobert wrote:Does anybody feel like forming a documentation team for ScummVM? I would like to be part of this team.

Lets continue this discussion in scummvm-devel mailing list.
