CMI cannot find comi.la2

Post by SimontheSorcerer »

I have copied all of the required files over to my \LucasArts\Curse folder, but Curse of Monkey Island is telling me this:

Cannot find file: 'comi.la2'
Insert disc 2 into drive D:\
Press OK to retry, Quit to exit

I insert disc 2, press OK, but nothing happens. The COMI.LA2 file is already in the Curse folder. Please help! Thanks.

How come you have a \LucasArts\ folder on your disk? Did you make it yourself? If not then you used the game installer from the CD's and that is the wrong thing to do....

If you did this (using the game installer from the CD's) then do the following to undo this mistake;

-Uninstall the game
-Remove everything that was left in the COMI folder
-Remove the game from the list of games inside ScummVM

then;

-Make a new folder anywhere you like (call it 'Curse' again if you wish)
-Copy all the ScummVM required files from BOTH CD's to that folder
-Add the game again in ScummVM

(your safegames will not be erased when you do this, so dont worry)

Did you remove the old entry for the game from ScummVM before adding it a second time? Each game in the list has a unique id (e.g. "comi"), and usually that determines what the save files will be called (comi.s01, comi.s02, etc.).

If the game appears twice in the list, the second copy will get a slightly different id to make it unique. Removing all instances of the game from the list and adding it again might fix that.
