Most of my research has this answer pointing to "No". The CD and Disk versions of MI2 are identical, including the music (unlike Monkey 1 that had CD Audio).
Is this conclusion correct?

It is skipped by the interpreter to be exact. The scripts are the same. The missing skill level selection is likely related to this, as this script is mixed with the "copycrap"-stuff.
