Monkey Island 2 CD Edition Differences?

Post by Goatman455 »

Most of my research has this answer pointing to "No". The CD and Disk versions of MI2 are identical, including the music (unlike Monkey 1 that had CD Audio).

Is this conclusion correct?

Thanks

Well, in scummvm, they're probably the same, but with original interpreters, you can't play lite mode with the CD version, iirc.

I don't have that CD version, but I guess you could use the boot parameter to enter easy mode.
That is: start the game, type in "monkeyspit" press ctrl-d, press ctrl-l, enter 10001.

Btw., is the Monkey Island 1 CD the only game which will accept a boot parameter at the command line without debug mode enabled?

But other than that, no differences?

The copy protection scheme is disabled in the CD version.

It is skipped by the interpreter to be exact. The scripts are the same. The missing skill level selection is likely related to this, as this script is mixed with the "copycrap"-stuff. Probably on purpose, to make it less obvious to crackers.

Well, I don't know. I have the LucasArts 10 adventures box where there is probably the floppy version on the disc.
