A weird version of Kyrandia
Moderator: ScummVM Team
My kyra.dat is also 67227 bytes. However, I just downloaded kyra.dat from http://www.scummvm.org/downloads/ and the file is much bigger (247KB). How come two different versions, and which should I use?
As things are now, you do not need to download kyra.dat anymore. It is included in the ScummVM installer.
So just remove kyra.dat from your game folder, use the newest ScummVM and everything will be fine.
Kyra.dat has been changing a bit over the years and it has gotten bigger when support for Kyrandia3 was included.

okay, thanks bobdevis. i assume the same can be said about all the other .dat files that come with scummvm, right? (i.e., delete drascula.dat and lure.dat from game folders and use the latest ones that come with scummvm)bobdevis wrote:As things are now, you do not need to download kyra.dat anymore. Haven't played those so I can't say I'm 100% sure, but I assume so.10basetom wrote: i assume the same can be said about all the other .dat files that come with scummvm, right? (i.e., delete drascula.dat and lure.dat from game folders and use the latest ones that come with scummvm)
Anyway, IF you have trouble, just run ScummVM off the command line (Command Prompt in Windows) and the output there will give a good hint about what is wrong. If xxxx.dat is not found or if it's the wrong version it will let you know.
For "KYRA.DAT" ScummVM should give an error via the internal GUI too.bobdevis wrote:Haven't played those so I can't say I'm 100% sure, but I assume so.10basetom wrote: i assume the same can be said about all the other .dat files that come with scummvm, right?
