How to make MI look as good as official version?

The official version of Monkey Island on the App Store looks much sharper than the one running on ScummVM: http://twitpic.com/ibscb

I tried playing around with the filters, but I couldn't get any significant differences. Any idea what settings might result in something sharper like that?

You are using a blurring scaler. Trying using either Normal2x or AdvMame2x, both should result in a pretty crisp image. Personally, I prefer hq2x, which gives a somewhat less crips but IMO better looking picture.
