Can Left/Right Mouse Buttons be Remapped to Joystick Click?

I have an N73 and it would be much easier to play certain games if I could assign the joystick click button to use in the game. When I try to assign either the left or right mouse button to the joystick click, it seems to be accepted in the menu, but when I try to use it in-game it doesn't work ...

My question is spelled out in the title of this post: Could someone please tell me if the left or right mouse button can be remapped to the joystick click, or is this function broken?

So no one has any idea of whether or not this is possible? No one has ever tried this before? I find that hard to believe.

Check the KEYMAPPINGS in options. Yes its possible.

I have tried using the keymapping setting in options. When I press the center click, it shows up as a "." and appears to be mapped. Yet when I try to use it in-game, nothing happens ...

but...

since it's mapped like "."..

I just press the "." button.. and it worked
