Well, you can still download the episode, but it will be useless, since you won't get the key. It was automatically added to your product list when the episode was downloaded from the Trogday website.

Telltale is rather generous when it comes to free episodes, but they can afford it. Besides, they'll give you one episode for free, hoping you'll buy the full season upgrade. They get the business, you get cheap games. It's a win - win situation.
