full throttle control issues

i find the touchpad the easiest control method for the ipod port, the other two methods were fine on the DS but with the ipod touch you have a big fat finger in your way rather than a stylus so you cant see the cursor
On full throttle you have to hold down the left mouse button on an item to bring up your options, punch,lick etc
is there anyway to incoporate that with the touch pad control, maybe you keep the cursor over an item for 3 seconds you get the options?
