Discworld 2 PSP issues?

Post by Jinx1337 »

Hi,

just wanted to ask wether you guy have the same issues with DW2 on the PSP that I am currently encountering.

The game runs considerably faster than the last I tried it, it seems perfectly playable (tho there are some slowdowns in areas like High Energy Facility).

Apart from sound stuttering from time to time (MS reading speed? could it be improved by 'unpacking' or 'compressing' the sounds somehow? I remember it helped with Lucas games like FT or The Dig), there is some random loud sound squeeking.

Sounds pretty much like PC SPEAKER from time to time. Try leaving the game on the Unseen University map and listen to the sound.

Any solution to this problem? I know Discworld isn't officially supported yet, but given how I didn't encounter it in the PC port, I thought it'd be wise to ask about it.

I tried both the newest nightly SVN build (28 FEB) and Pix's one (based on the same SVN as far as I recall).

And forgive my English today, I am dead tired - haven't slept in 48 hours, I'll edit the post tommorow :)

Best regards.

Forgot to add, I'm using PSP-2000 (Slim); using the ScummVM executable with all the engines included and a dynamic loader.

Not the Tinsel seperated one.

I don't have a PSP, but on that screen, there are two different sound effects playing from time to time: an electrical "bzzzz" sound from the lightning on the High Energy Facility and squeaking from the bats circling the tower.

Are you sure that's not those, sounding like they should?

Could you maybe record what you're hearing?

Nope, that sounds exactly like a loud, high-pitched PC Speaker going crazy lol.

Sure, I'll record it!

Recorded and uploaded; it's all fine throughout the intro. Once the game starts, it happens everywhere on random intervals.

I'm getting the same thing on a phat with a build from a few days back. I'm fairly sure this didn't happen in older versions but it's not a game I've played much yet.

Do I file a bug report then?

Fixed already, guess we have to wait for another nightly build to test it.
