What do these settings mean?

Post by badbob001 »

[x] Fullscreen mode : isn't it already full screen?

[x] Aspect ratio correction : what games does this have an effect on?

[x] Mixed Adlib/MIDI mode : so would a game only play the adlib part of a game if the MIDI portion is missing?

[x] True Roland MT-32 (disable GM emulation) : Does True Roland MT-32 mean MT-32 emulation or does it mean to send midi commands to a connected MT-32 (possible on pda?)? Or does it mean to use MT-32 emulation and disable GM emulation?

According to the README, this setting should relate to --native-mt32, which should try to plan to an external MT-32 device but will use MT-32 emulation if it detects the MT-32 roms in the extra path. So in the context of a pda, I guess this setting is to enable MT-32 emulation?

Hello,
[x] Fullscreen mode : isn't it already full screen?
Yes
[x] Aspect ratio correction : what games does this have an effect on?
Not on PocketPC. It needs to much processing Power.
[x] Mixed Adlib/MIDI mode : so would a game only play the adlib part of a game if the MIDI portion is missing?
No. On PC this will play MIDI Music AND Adlib Sound Effects (MI2 and newer). Since no MIDI support is available in the PocketPC port, it has no effect (always the Adlib sound is played). For the games only providing MIDI Music, there is some kind of MIDI->Adlib wrapper implemented.
[x] True Roland MT-32 (disable GM emulation) : Does True Roland MT-32 mean MT-32 emulation or does it mean to send midi commands to a connected MT-32 (possible on pda?)? Or does it mean to use MT-32 emulation and disable GM emulation?
Is for the MT-32 emulator included in the PC Versions of ScummVM. NA for PocketPC. (BTW: Activating this option using e.g. Windows MIDI sounds horrible).

Probably when new common backend for smaller devices will be implemented, these options will go away.
