I've been looking alot around your forums & seems there are some older posts http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=868&
in regards to this question about SIERRA games & at those times it was suggested in looking into the FreeSCI & Sarien programs since then however these programs have now merged with SCUMM anyway -- I know different people look & hope to find different games than others BUT, I was hoping that someone might know if, there will ever be support for the SIERRA game SHIVERS http://www.redbeansoup.net/shivers/shiverspics1.html
- it is a point & click game designed to run on windows 98 & supposedly able run on XP using the make compatible interface BUT, does not work - this is a great horror type of rpg & uses real live actors for character dialogs as was such the case with PHANTASMAGORIA
-- this would be a great awesome game but, just doesn't work on newer operating systems -- I have played this in years past 7& trust me if, you love to play games as I do that actually give you SHIVERS (suspense) playing them then this game has to be a must
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shivers_(video_game) use as seen may have to copy & paste for this link

ANY hope :?:

I played Shivers about five years ago on XP with no problems. I have come across games that worked well with XP before and then you try again maybe 6 months or a year later and they don't. Who knows?
Being a Win 3.1 game I'd try a virtual machine or maybe even DOSbox with 3.1 installed first.
All I can say regarding SCI games in ScummVM is that not one is supported yet and I think those that are working on it are generally going in order of SCI version. With Shivers being a SCI32 game I think that if it is ever supported then it will come much later than the earlier SCI0 and 1 games.
Note for a warmer welcome to this and anything else online avoid caps. It's ScummVM not SCUMM. Same goes for sierra, shivers and phantasmagoria. You asked for help and to give yourself a better chance avoid those caps. Some people will totally avoid posts that do it.

It doesn't seem like they're developing in any precise order, but yeah the older ones work much better.

If you check the Wiki I linked to, you'll see that Shivers is an SCI2.1 game, which currently seems to be in the very early stages of development -- according to the SVN the Phantasmagoria demo at least can currently run a bit. So to answer you question, yes, it will eventually be compatible with ScummVM assuming no major roadblocks in development occur.

As to how long it will take, who knows. SCI has actually been developing at a surprisingly fast pace since the project merger -- from basically non-functional beyond SCI0 to a large number of games completable. There's a whole lot of engine versions and a whole lot of games though, so it will probably still be a fairly long while.

Couldn't have described the situation better :) That reflects the current state of the Sierra SCI engine in ScummVM

You can thank service pack 2 for that.
