SQ1-3 on Good Old Games

Post by MusicallyInspired »

Space Quest 1, 2, and 3 are now released on Good Old Games. It should be noted that in this release they include the AGI version of Space Quest 1 rather than the remake!

seems like a ripoff. for less then this one can buy the collection put out by vivendi a few years back and get all the games (other than the original AGI version of SQ1).

Or a quick search on ebay can land one the space quest collection that sierra put out with every game on, multiple languages on some, and lots of other bonus material.

sticking 3 old agi games out for ten bucks that likely just boot through dosbox anyways doesn't seem that great. ah well, hopefully someone else finds some use for these.

No. You can't. The Vivendi collections are currently on Steam right now for $19.99 each. So it's the same price.

It also comes with manuals and exclusive new artwork bonuses.

Of course eBay is going to be a better choice once in a while, but this is fairly cheap. Especially considering they were all like $40 each back in the day.

Yes. You can.

I just saw the whole package yesterday at target for $10. I saw it at half price books last week for $8. And as far as eBay goes, it isn't a good deal "once in a while". Basically the entire first page of results was under $10 bucks.

Here is the first link I found:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SPACE-QUEST-COLLECT ... 500wt_1154

Amazon - $12.99 for the whole set

My simple point was $10 for 3 old AGI games doesn't strike me as a good deal when you can get the whole set for the same price.

As far as them all being $40 "back in the day"... well hell, every pc game used to be $40-$50 - that doesn't automatically make them all a good deal now.

Yes, if you want them used. I just said that eBay is an entirely different matter altogether. But regarding official channels for brand new products, it's the former price.

Small point, but only one of them is an AGI game, two are SCI.

It's the old SQ1, so actually 2 AGI, 1 SCI.

Ahh, I missed that. I had assumed that they had just split the 2006 VU collection.

Yeah, that was the big thing about this release. Which is why I posted it everywhere.

Is 3 missing the install files like the VU collection?

Most likely. I have no idea, though. I don't own the GoG version.....yet.

One thing we can probably bet on now is that when GoG finally puts up KQ1-3 they'll probably include the AGI version of KQ1 as well.
