This isn't really ScummVM related, but if you're looking for something to play, check out Machinarium (http://machinarium.net/). It's been a long time since I felt the need to plunk down any amount of money for a new game, but I like to support independent developers ... and when you buy this you get a copy for WIN, OSX, and Linux.

Check out the demo if you've got a second
Well, I heard a lot good things about this game but I hven't played it yet. The independant game I liked most the last years was Zak McKracken between time and space. Broken Sword 2.5 was the most expected game, but in the end it wasn't that good as I hoped.
If you like recent new games by other developers, go and buy:
- Ceville
- The Book of Unwritten Tales
- The Whispered World
- Black Mirror 2
- Simon the Sorcerer 5
- Rhiannon
- Edna
- ...
Machinarium is pretty much 'the neverhood' only with less vocals (consider that!). I liked it, but i didn't like the myst-like puzzles that showed up from time to time and didn't fit the reality of the story (why do you need to solve a puzzle just to choose a floor for the elevator? mou). Also the ending was weird.
The best independent I've played is Braid.
It's a puzzle/platformer with a spark of genius.
It's a 10/10 in every possible category imaginable.
Check it out!

I thought it was worth it, but around here 20 bucks is usually less than what a new DVD movie costs.
By the way, there's a hi-res version of that picture, with less text, on the Machinarium blog. I just thought I'd mention that, in case it gets picked up by the poster thread in the Junkyard forum.

Personally, I thought it was a tad short for the money, but then again, I'd just come off of Aquaria which was (at least for me) nearly 30 hours worth of 2D (all four-)sidescroll gameplay
