Hi,
Is there any chance that scummVM will run on a Blackberry one day?
The new Blackberrys 8520 and 9700 have a very good display and a Trackpad what would be nice for cursor navigation.
Is it so difficult to program for java?

The Java thing is discussed here;

The short answer is that it's EXTREMELY unlikely that anyone will take the time to recode ScummVM in Java any time soon.
What MIGHT happen is that RIM will drop some restrictions and allow C++ apps at some point in the future.

was cibyl given a spin ?
There is one earlier reference to cibyl
http://code.google.com/p/cibyl/wiki/Cibyl
but no answer to it. This compiler from C++ to J2ME bytecode is definitely a possibility, since Sarien was ported using it. Did you developpers try this compiler ? Is there a performance issue with the result also on recent blackberries ?

Here is an unfinished and probably rotten patch with initial attempts to port ScummVM to Cybil, but no free hands to work on it.

aside of cibyl
Thanks for the update, Eugene. The SF repository was made by the cibyl author, but he must have moved on now. A shame the build is not functional.
For the sake of completeness, here is a pair of other resources. They seems to take more or less the same route as cibyl to J2ME, but the last one looks more friendly (eclipse glue) and uses a non-Mips intermediary mnemonic.
