How to save game on Mac?

This used to work perfectly on pre-1.0 ScummVM for Mac - use CTRL 0-9 and Option 0-9 to save and reload game.

But ever since ScummVm comes to 1.0, this no longer works. You can try on any Humongous games - now my kids have to keep the window open at all time! Even up to 1.20, this remains the big issue for us!

Please bring back the save game for Mac! Thanks!

From what I understand, there were some issues with using ScummVM's save/load mechanism in some (all?) Humongous games. However, the game's original save/load mechanism should work. In the few Humongous games I have (which are all English versions), it's triggered by pressing the S or L keys.
