FM Towns

Post by Sordid »

Since Scumm 0.8.0 I can''t play the FM Towns Versions (Zam McKracken, Last crusade) and Monkey Island CD anymore! Scumm reports a missing file and crahses then or simply crashes immediately. With 0.7.1 everything works fine.

try deleting them in the main menu and let ScummVM re-detect them. Some of the game IDs have changed, I had a similar problem once.

Scumm targets have all been unified. No more zaknes, zaktowns, etc. Now you use only one target (say 'zak') but you have to specify the game's platform (PC, NES, FM-Towns, whatever).

Those get autoupgraded. What I think is in this case is target_md5 business.

I tried re-detecting them - no effect.

@sev I searched the documentation and found something about md5 checksums. I guess you mean that my altered versions of the FM Towns games have a different checksum. So, how do I have to change this? And why did it work in 0.7.1?

Perhaps a more detailed description:

Monkey Island: "Missing 000.lfl" My version does not have lfl files. If I remember correctly my old disc version had...

FM Towns: I have to select the proper title out of a list but the title isn't listed.

Ok, I solved the problem.

Just had to add the MD5 checksums into the scummvm.ini and everything worked fine. My gameversions are modified 'cause I used german translation patches.

Guess you meant that, sev ;)

Btw: Why did you established this md5 checksum test?

EDIT: Ahem, now, after I have edited the above posts you could be right. :D :D :D

I wanted to make it easy for non-technical people.

Considered how many users can't even use search-functions.

Also, how long would that post be then?

Regards

Joachim

I would suggest that also.

Consider putting it on the documentation-page.

The easier and more clearly you provide help to users, the less stupid questions will be.
I suggest to state informations prominently.

Also, it is necessary to provide them with full game-entries because you can't always add games with the ScummVM launcher.

Edit: Also be aware that some of the preconfigured tranlations from above do NOT exist yet. I just preconfigured them for a possible later existence.

Best regards

well then you should fill a "feature request" about it and see if it will be done.
