In general, you need everything except the .exe, .txt and .drv files. For KQ6 you also need to rip the CD audio track for the music to play at the end.
I think you need some .drv files in some cases though, like for MT-32 init data in older SCI game etc. Anyway when you talk about crashes, did ScummVM just quit without any message? Or did it show the debug console with some text written there?

That's why I said "In General". I believe some of the .drv files are required for two 'old' versions (LSL2 and KQ4?) of early SCI games, but other than that, they're not needed.

Indeed. They're only needed for LSL2 old, KQ4 old and the XMAS88 demo
