Discworld iPod help!

Post by Smiler »

Hey guys, new here =) Please be gentle haha..

This might seem completely obvious but i'm playing Discworld on my iPod Touch, works absolutely fine but, forgive my utter cluelessness, how on earth can you expand out the luggage? You know, usually you would click and use the mouse to open the luggage storage out to take up more space. I can't get to my items now cos I can't enlarge it/drag the list scroll down =/

Any help is appreciated!

Also, sorry, I'm not sure i've posted this in the right places <=) I'll delete the ones i've made in other subforums.

The scroll bar doesn't let you click the up and down arrows to navigate the luggage, you have to physicly pull the page down

In the PC version, you'd just do it like you would expand a regular window, drag it at the bottom right corner, I think it was...

This may not yet be ported for the Ipod.

What you just posted has absolutely nothing to do with the original post.

Just because there's a Desktop Image doesn't mean I'm talking about Desktop windows. That IS in fact the method to expand the luggage in Discworld.

Better?

@Smiler:
Have you tried double clicking/tapping the "Luggage" title of the popup luggage box?

Hey wow, thanks Nitrus! That double click method on the 'luggage' tag worked!

Yeah you cant drag the corners on the iPod, there's no way to hold and drag on it's interface.

Thanks a bunch! =D

No problem, glad I could be of help.

So I'm guessing there's nothing wrong with the porting, that's just the way the iPod Touch works.

Yeah the iPod control scheme probably doesn't feature any mode where you can keep a key pressed (or Smiler doesn't know about it, I don't know anything about the iPhone port myself actually).

Yeah, now that you mention it, I think there was a method, since I played a game and it's gameplay was based on doing stuff like that... Maybe double-tap - hold - drag...?
Whatever, I don't know, I don't own one anymore. :)

According to the iPhone controls described on our wiki there is a Click+Drag mode. To active it you need to hold one finger on screen, swipe another up from bottom to top. And it might do what you want (I can't say for sure since I neither have an iPhone nor the Discworld game):
In this mode, a mouse click is sent immediately when you touch the screen, drags to wherever you slide your finger, and releases where you lift your finger. If you press down a second finger in this mode, you effectively release the left mouse button, and press down the right one (which is then released when you lift your finger again). Useful for Monkey Island 3: The Curse of Monkey Island and Full Throttle.

Aha, so there you go, it was documented already. If I can get a hold of an iTouch soon, I'll confirm this for sure.
