Can't add Slater and Charlie

Post by 5x7 »

I copied all the files from the CD to a folder for Slater and Charlie go Camping. When I add game, Scummvm (1.3.0 on mac os 10.3.9) I get the message 'Scummvm could not find any game in the specified directory!'

There are 22 files and a 'dos' folder, and in the dos folder there are 40 files.

I have been able to add and play other games, I just added DOTT to make sure I was doing it right and it added and started fine.

Any help is appreciated.

It's possible you have an unknown version of the game. Check the console window when you try to add the game. If it has information about files along with md5 values, then you can report those and the devs will add it.

Otherwise, it'd probably be helpful if you gave a bit more information, such as the game version, your OS, etc. You might also try downloading and installing a daily build, from the bottom of the downloads page.

The OS is in the original post.
From the readme, it appears the windows version of the game is in the main folder and the dos version is in the dos folder. The language is english (I hope :) It is a 'Sierra Originals' disk, released some time after the original. I tried to add from the dos folder and it failed with the same message. I added every file to one folder and I got the same message. Searching the forums for this game, it appears the DOS version was tested several times before this game was supported months ago, so I don't see what a daily build would get me.

After some digging, I turned the console on and tried to add it again, here is what it says:
The game in '/Users/st/Slater' seems to be unknown.

Please, report the following data to the ScummVM team along with name

of the game you tried to add and its version/language/etc.:

{"resource.000", 0, "d7b4cc8e2c0b3a4768f8dfb5de27f206", 2256126},

{"resource.map", 0, "21f85414124dc23e54544a5536dc35cd", 4044},

{"resource.msg", 0, "c44f51fb955eae266fecf360ebcd5ad2", 1132},

Again, any help would be great.

Here is the message when I tried to add using the DOS folder:

Sometimes new versions are added after release, so some games might be detected by the daily builds that aren't in the release version.

Anyway, since it is indeed an unknown game version, you should report it on the bug tracker if it isn't detected in the daily builds. A dev will add support for that version eventually.
